Sam joined Groundswell in April 2024 as the Farm & Land Management Specialist. He spends his time supporting farmers at Groundswell’s community farms and restoring native ecosystems at Westport Prairie and Patrick Marsh.
Sam has spent the last five years growing vegetables and building community at Troy Farm on the Northside of Madison. After receiving an engineering degree from UW-Madison, he has used his skills to build infrastructure for community food systems in Dane County. He enjoys planting and taking care of fruit trees, and you’ll often find him harvesting crates full of fruit from trees around the city.
In his free time, Sam enjoys bicycle touring, swimming in wild waters, and preserving food.
