Outdoor Volunteering

Volunteer Outside at Westport Prairie and Patrick Marsh

With your help, we restore and care for our local natural landscapes for communities to enjoy and wildlife to thrive. No experience is necessary, and we provide the tools for the job. Our tasks change each month. Here’s some of what we do:

  • Learn plant identification (throughout the growing season)
  • Cut invasive brush with loppers (year-round)
  • Collect native prairie seeds for planting (late summer/fall)
  • Pull invasive weeds like garlic mustard and wild parsnip (spring/summer)
  • Plant prairie (fall)
  • Burn brush piles (winter)
  • Build trail improvements (as needed)

To RSVP for an outdoor volunteering event, or to set up a group volunteering day, contact BJ Byers at bj@groundswellconservancy.org or call (608) 258-9797.
