Brandon joined Groundswell as the Easement Stewardship Manager in 2023. He works with landowners to uphold the conservation values of properties protected through voluntary conservation easement agreements. Part of that process includes annual monitoring visits to each property, which provides the opportunity to meet and work with landowners who share a passion for stewarding land for future generations to enjoy.
Before joining Groundswell, Brandon managed lands in the City of Madison’s Conservation Park system for 11 years and was a crew leader for a local environmental restoration company before that. He moved to Madison in 2006 looking for a new adventure and earned a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a focus on ecological restoration in 2009.
A passion for prairie and oak savanna landscapes is what initially attracted him to Wisconsin and he has since truly come to fall in love with southern Wisconsin, particularly the Driftless area. When not at work or volunteering, he spends time canoeing Wisconsin’s rivers, reading history, natural and otherwise, growing and making good food, and exploring/ traveling.
