JT is Groundswell’s Communications Coordinator, a position he took in 2025. He gives Groundswell Conservancy a friendly face in public, on social media and in the news.
His college years in Milwaukee aside, JT is a lifelong resident of the Madison area and an avid enjoyer of its natural places. He grew up in the rural areas around Columbus, Wisconsin. Eventually he moved to Sun Prairie, where he spent many hours at Patrick Marsh Wildlife Area. He and his wife now live in Stoughton and are expecting their first child. In the warmer months, you can often find him out on a run along the Yahara River.
JT might have a familiar face. He has spent his entire career in news and communications, working for WKOW, Madison.com, UpNorthNews and the City of Columbus among other places. Much of his time on camera focused on telling stories about Wisconsin’s environment and the challenges it faces from pollution to encroaching development. It was Groundswell’s mission of preserving these open areas that attracted him to the role. It’s rare to catch him without a camera within arm’s reach, ready to capture a captivating moment.
