Our newly improved Prairie Partners internship program is back this summer — which means so is our Prairie Partners Picnic! You’re invited to join us for a picnic lunch at Westport Prairie with the five students on our crew. They’re all excited to share their experiences and show off their hard work. We’ll also recognize the sponsors that made this year’s crew possible.
Groundswell hosts the group of interns one day each week at Westport Prairie and Patrick Marsh. The crew’s efforts are transforming these special places while giving them incredible hands-on field experience.
Thanks to this year’s picnic sponsors, Mary and Doug Marshall, we’ll provide all our guests with a brown bag lunch from Casetta Kitchen & Counter. You just need to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. (There’s a porta potty on site.)
The walk from the farmstead to the picnic site on the drumlin is ~1/2 mile. After lunch, we’ll take a walk with the interns to see the results of their restoration efforts and experience the prairie’s diverse wildflower tapestry.
